A week in AI is a year in anything else. Every day, someone comes up with a new AI tool, model, or notebook. Here are just a few of them, which I use more or less every day:
- GPT for Work, an app that integrates GPT into Google Sheets and Google Docs. I’ve used it a lot and highly recommend it.
- Harpa.ai, a writing assistant that works in your browser. You can use it to summarize YouTube videos, web pages, write copy, summarize a page into a Tweet, a To-Do list, etc.
- AIPRM, a chat assistant within ChatGPT that includes a very extensive prompt library.
- PDFGPT, a service that can “read” and summarize PDF files up to 1000 pages. It does an amazingly good job.
We haven’t even touched on AI art. I first got interested in AI art in early 2021. This is an image I generated through Artbreeder around that time:
It’s only been two years, but the field has changed incredibly quickly. Compare the image above, which I made two years ago, to the image below, which I made just today:
This is completely AI-generated, no Photoshop to speak of. Here was the prompt I used:
Low angle medium close-up of Dua Lipa on a motorcycle, wearing a black leather jacket and ripped jeans. The camera, a Canon EOS R with Canon RF35mm F1.8 is Macro STM Lens, captures her confident expression, emphasizing her determination. The lighting is golden hour, casting a warm glow on her face and the motorcycle. The depth of field is shallow, with the focus on Dua Lipa’s face and the motorcycle, creating a sense of connection. The shutter speed is 1/500, capturing the motion of her hair flowing in the wind. ::1 Camera ::-0.5 ar v –q 5
Where will we be in two years from now? Fully-AI-generated films? Programs that can take a book chapter and turn it into a movie for you? Generate an entire product launch strategy, including market research, with one simple command?
It’s almost impossible for me to imagine.
We are already having issues with real-looking images that fool people. And GPT can create very persuasive-sounding BS. Add in all the new models being released every day, and the future is coming faster than we ever thought possible.
